BPPV and The Epley Maneuver

Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo BPPV and the Epley Maneuver

BPPV is characterised by repeated episodes of vertigo (spinning sensation) related to changes in head position. It is a common, benign condition caused by the displacement of calcium crystals in the inner ear but can be quite distressing. The Epley maneuver is used to relocate the crystals to relieve the symptoms of vertigo and can be taught as a home exercise to strengthen the treatment.

 Please note

It is important if you are experiencing dizziness or vertigo that you speak to your medical practitioner first as the symptoms can be related to other medical conditions. Once you have a diagnosis of BPPV then please contact me and I can perform the maneuver for you and teach you how to do it at home.
