About- Soumen Basak

Dr Soumen Basak

Clinic hours:

Tuesday 4-8

Friday 9-6

I graduated from Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ Medical School, London in 2003.  Subsequently I have worked across the UK and in Australia. In 2009 I completed my GP training in Brighton and have continued to work in the Sussex area since this time.

From 2015-2017 I studied at the London College of Osteopathic Medicine where I had the privilege of having Mark Andrews as my mentor. I am delighted to join the Kemptown Osteopathic Clinic as an Associate Osteopath.

I am registered with both the GMC (General Medical Council) and GOsC (General Osteopathic Council) I am a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners.  In order to stay up to date with medicine and osteopathy I regularly attend local meetings, seminars and update courses.

My interest in osteopathy developed after I had treatment for my own neck and shoulder problems. I was relieved and impressed with the changes possible and was inspired to learn osteopathic techniques so that I could assist others in the same way.  I enjoy assessing musculoskeletal problems offering explanation, advice and hands on treatment.  I am interested in looking for potential causes and addressing changes that could be made for longer term management.  Having a background in medicine helps me to consider the potential interplay between physical, social and psychological issues.

Outside of clinical work I enjoy music, art, gardening, keeping fit and spending time with family and friends.
